Curtis was her mother was Carmencita Ojales from Bolinao Pangasinan in Australia as well as James Ernest Curtis Smith an Australian lawyer, was born on July 25, 1970, at Yarrawonga. Her father had been wed to Ojales before 1982. The younger brother Jasmine is also an actor. Their father's side had a half-sister called Clare who died in 2007 of an illness of the heart at just four months old.
